Christianity is not a spectator sport. Our faith makes us participants or performers on the stage of life. Before Christ came, God’s people we spectators, looking on or wearing the tradition of being God’s people. In the time after Christ came, died, and arose, Christians are called to be active participants in their faith, it is not enough to just sit back and watch, or wear a cloak of religion. In James 1:22-25 we are called to be “…doers of the word, and not hearers only…he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” KJV

Let us all be willing to become more than just a spectator, sitting idly professing a relationship with God. All relationships take work; action on both sides. We have to get up and actively pursue the relationship. We have to but forth some effort to learn the part of being a true Christian and laying all aside become a participant in this drama we call life.
