James 4:8  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you
An Acrostic Poem
D ays, weeks, months, years, the hours, the minutes, the seconds and the miles
I n between where we are, where we were and where we hope to be
S ometimes the distance is short and sometimes the distance is long
T ime spans all distances, moving us closer together and further apart, all at the same time
A s we traverse life’s ever winding highway, family and friends are found and lost along the way
N ot knowing when we’ll meet again, we hold them in our hearts, shrinking the distance as we
C atch the memories shared and use them to propel us forward, pressing on in our journey, inching
E ver closer to eternity, with every step, every breath and every moment in this crazy, beautiful life.

Scriptures from Amplified Bible
Matthew 26:58  But Peter followed Him at a distance, as far as the courtyard of the high priest’s home; he even went inside and sat with the guards to see the end.
Matthew 27:55  There were also numerous women there, looking on from a distance, who were of those who had accompanied Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him.
Hebrews 11:13  These people all died controlled and sustained by their faith, but not having received the tangible fulfillment of [God’s] promises, only having seen it and greeted it from a great distance by faith, and all the while acknowledging and confessing that they were strangers and temporary residents and exiles upon the earth
Psalms 73:28  But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God and made Him my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works.
Hebrews 4:16  Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].
Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
