Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Rom 8:35

He had anxiously waited for the day when the Man of Galilee would come to his town. He had delayed making an important decision until with his own eyes he could behold Jesus. Now he saw the Man. Jesus passed by. Nothing had happened.

They were almost out of sight. Was it too late? Gathering up his robes about him he ran. Upon reaching the group he knelt at the Master’s  feet. In desperation before he again changed his mind, the young ruler asked, “Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus discussed the
keeping of the law. The rich man said he had kept it: “But what lack I yet?”

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, “One thing thou lackest:go they way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, thou shalt have treasure in heaven:  and come, take up the cross , and follow me.”

And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved:  for he had great possessions.

The heart of Jesus was grieved also. The rich young ruler had everything but strength of character. God gives us strength to rid ourselves of any allurement which separates us from Thee.

*Longfellow could take a worthless sheet of paper, write a poem on it, and make it worth $6,000—that’s genius.
*Rockafeller could sign his name to a piece of paper and make it worth a million dollars—that’s capital.
*Uncle Sam can take gold, stamp an eagle on it, and make it worth $50.—that’s money.
*An artist can take a fifty-cent piece of canvas, paint a picture on it, and make it worth $1,000—that’s art.
*God can take a worthless, sinful life, wash it in the blood of Christ. put His Spirit in it, and make it a blessing to humanity—that’s salvation.
