Ecclesiastes is what I’ve reading. Our pastor once said to read the beginning and the ending for a complete picture. So today :

Ecclesiastes 1:1-10 and 12:13-14. Amplified Bible.

THE WORDS of the Preacher, the son of David and king in Jerusalem.

Vapor of vapors and futility of futilities, says the Preacher.

Vapor of vapors and futility of futilities!

All is vanity (emptiness, falsity, and vainglory).

What profit does man have left from all his toil at which he toils under the sun? [Is life worth living?]

One generation goes and another generation comes, but the earth remains forever.

The sun also rises and the sun goes down, and hastens to the place where it rises.

The wind goes to the south and circles about to the north; it circles and circles about continually, and on its circuit the wind returns again.

All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full. To the place from which the rivers come, to there and from there they return again.

All things are weary with toil and all words are feeble; man cannot utter it. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.

The thing that has been–it is what will be again, and that which has been done is that which will be done again; and there is nothing new under the sun.

Is there a thing of which it may be said, See, this is new? It has already been, in the vast ages of time [recorded or unrecorded] which were before us.

All has been heard; the end of the matter is:
Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is]
and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man
[the full, original purpose of his creation,
                                the object of God’s providence,
                                the root of character,
                                the foundation of all happiness,
the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances
                                                 and conditions under the sun]
and the whole [duty] for every man.
For God shall bring every work into judgment,
                 with every secret thing,
whether it is good or evil.

Selah (pause    and calmly think of that).

Trust God for your day, ….Today
