At the close of another Annual Fellowship Meeting, I think back on the services and reflect on the gold nuggets that I am taking away from it. I always look forward to this time of year, a time of reflection, a time for a deeper consecration, a renewing in my soul, a fresh touch of desire. But all of this is of no use, unless it is put into practice. It becomes an emotional experience of the past, just a good time, if the challenges aren’t accepted and pursued. This is my desire, that it not be just another great meeting, but that it be a stepping stone that draws me closer to God.

  1. No relationship can survive with out forgiveness.
  2. If you are not willing to constantly forgive, you will become bitter.
  3. Do we want God to forgive us as we forgive others? There is a reason why he says to forgive others as he has forgiven us.
  4. Unforgiveness incarcerates the victim with no effect on the offender.
  5. Who art thou Lord? Daily ask who God is. The answer, I am Jesus, will meet every need, answer every question.
  6. We need to have a for sure knowledge of who he is.
  7. We need the Spirit – to kill the flesh, to pray when we can’t, to be a witness, to quicken the body. We NEED the Spirit.
  8. He rescued me from what could have been my end. Being saved young and not having experienced the vast world of sin, my end could have been a mess, full of heartache and sorrow. He saved me from what could have been.10514-Great-Is-Thy-Faithfulness
  9. He is a faithful Father, and GREAT is his faithfulness to me.
  10. Why should I feel discouraged? When I know that he watches me, just as he watches the sparrow.
  11. We need to be willing to let the spotlight of God shine on us and not always shift the focus to someone else, he that is without sin cast the first stone.
  12. Face your need.
  13. Allow Christ to see your failure. Allow him into the intimate part of your heart, where your hurts are. He will take them and make something great.
  14. Be willing to God with God to places you have never gone before. Go out into the deep.
  15. Be concerned about stagnation. If you aren’t growing, moving up, experiencing more in salvation, if it is no longer a benefit to you, Be very concerned. Seek God.
  16. Don’t bring up the past. Focusing on the past hurts, problems, divisions, will cause you to miss your blessing.
  17. Don’t be afraid when your “child” is dead. Don’t listen to what others say, believe and ask Jesus into the intimate parts of your house, so he can bring healing to your need.
  18. Jesus says, no matter what you have heard, I can do something with this impossible situation.
  19. I’m still HOLDING ON.558309
  20. When God draws the line, it is up to us to measure to it.
  21. God wants to do good, are we willing to let him use us?
  22. We need to be more intimate with God. You need intimacy with him in order to bring forth new converts.

A long list. A lot to remember. But changes don’t have to happen over night. We do what we have known to do. Take additional time in prayer and devotion. Be quick and willing to forgive the little slights each day. Open our mouth and let God fill it.

God help us, help me, to be your child. To hear AND obey.

Thoughts from the Wednesday night Bible Discussion Group. This week our topic was on our fellowship meeting that we just had over Labor Day weekend. We were to bring thoughts of how we were challenged or blessed through the meeting. We got a little of topic, but God saw that needs needed to be met and directed us in a manner that we could be used that way.

1. Matthew 23:23…”and have omitted the weighter matters of the law, judgment, mercy and faith:” Judgment is one thing that sets the Church of God apart from religion. In order to receive mercy and forgiveness, you must be found guilty in judgment. You can’t be forgiven of nothing. And you have to have faith to receive mercy. All three are crucial aspects of the plan of salvation. Mainstream religion is missing the judgment part of the puzzle, and thus falling short of preaching the truth.

2. We are called to unity; to dwell together in peace. Psalms 133:1. If we all have the same goal in mind and purpose of heart we can worship in unity. But this doesn’t come naturally, we have to work at being a unified body. Ephesians 4:3

3. When the enemy comes against us with thoughts that may cause confusion we can rest against the promise that those thoughts are not from God, for he isn’t the author of confusion. 1 Corinthians 14:33. We can use this scripture to defeat the enemy when he comes to our minds.

4. More promises that we can lean on: 1 John 1:9-2:1 – If we confess our sins, God is faithful to forgive and provide an advocate for us through Jesus his son. Our sins have been removed from us “as far as the east is from the west” Psalms 103:12 and cast into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:19

5. Jesus too was tempted of the devil. We can take his example of using Bible Scripture to defeat the enemy. Matthew 4. There is power in God’s word.

1 Corinthians 3:16 – Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

We are the temple of God. We cannot compare ourselves against others to see how well our temple is being kept up. We need to ask God, what do YOU think of my building?

God wants to own our house, to be able to open the door and walk thru the whole building. If God cannot dwell in the whole building, he doesn’t want a room. God is not satisfied with being a visitor in our house. We can’t say God, “Make your self at home, and go any where you want, except the back bedroom. It is just a mess; you don’t want to see it.” We can’t limit God’s ownership of our house. Can we truly say, God fill my building, dwell in every aspect of my life?

If we don’t allow God to take complete control of our house, it will be come uninhabitable. Our life will fall to pieces. We cannot take things into our own hands. If God is kept out of any space in our house, we become in danger of loosing our salvation. As God is allowed back into our building, the word and truth will be lifted up in its rightful place once again.

In speaking of the literal temple of God, 1 Kings 8 verses 10 and 11 explain the presence of the Lord in the temple.
And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD, So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.

With out God filling our building, the temple of God, our lives, it is just a building and nothing special. We have no power to live free from sin, those around us see no difference in us, we become apart of the world. We are no longer set apart to fulfill his plan.

Let us confirm and ask God to search us, in each aspect, every room, drawer, closet, each space to make sure that we have allowed him to have complete control over everything.

Friday night’s lesson during our Fellowship Meeting was titled: Lord, I need a break thru.

Jacob had a problem; he and his brother Esau were estranged. In this passage of scripture we find Jacob planning a trip to reconcile with his brother. Jacob was apprehensive about the meeting and needed a break thru. He is willing to pray, press, work, endeavor until the relationship improved. We have to be willing to do whatever it takes for us to break thru and receive the answer from God.

In Genesis 32, we see how Jacob fought with an Angel, he was not going to give up before he recieved the help and answer that he desired.

Just as Jacob, we sometimes are in a situation where we come against a wall, maybe it is an attitude, a preconceived idea, an opinion, a belief, someone else, another trial, or obstacle. We come to this wall and for us to be able to continue in this way, that wall needs to come down, we need a break thru.

Many times we understand the need for a change, we feel convicted even, but don’t work, press, pray or aren’t burdened enough to continue until we have a break thru. It is not enough to pray a prayer out of obligation or duty, we need to have a burden and pray out of earnest desire to reach the throne of God. As Jacob did, we too need to not stop seaking God until we have reached him.

God knows how to reach us, to come to where we are, to bring us to the point where we want a break thru and will put in all the effort necessary to achieve it.

Our burden needs to be; Lord I need a break thru, in my life, in my community, in the world.

Thursday night we began our fellowship meeting. As promised, I am posting a synopsis of the messages. The meeting has been good, God has been with us, for that we are thankful. It would be all in vain with out his presence.

     Thursday night:

Who will go to America? Who will stand up against and for America? Who will be strong and share the gospel with all those they meet? Who will go? Brother, why not you?

The Bible exports us to pray for those in the office positions, in leadership that they may know and govern with the truth. In I Timothy 2:1-4 it says “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

This country was founded on freedom of religion. If we don’t take advantage of our freedom we will loose it. The way our country is going, sure you can believe and worship however you want, but leave it inside the worship place. God is no longer allowed in the schools, work place, or even on the streets. If we let this continue to happen, we will soon not be able to truly worship freely.

In Romans chapter 1 verses 19-32 we find a description of the world we live in.

“Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,  And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,  Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,  Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”

The world shows no shame over sin. If they can have no shame over something that is very shameful, we should have all boldness when it comes to sharing the truth to all those around us. In all things we need to be ready to give account to the hope we have with in us. We need to be careful and diligent to pass the truth onto all those that will listen in every generation.

What are you doing to spread the truth to the lost and dying world we call home?
