When persons have learnt to look upon the daily course of their ordinary life, with its duties and trouble, however commonplace, as their offering to God, and as the safest school for themselves of perfection, they  will have made a very important step in the spiritual life.

Colossians 3:17  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Another step, so simple that it is often despised, is to do everything,  however ordinary, as well as it can possibly be done, for God’s sake.

Colossians 3:23-24  And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

A third is to be always pressing forward;  when a mistake is made,  or a fault committed, to face and admit it freely; but having asked God to supply the deficiency caused by our own infirmity, to go steadfastly and hopefully.
   H. L. Sidney Lear

Philippians 3:13-14  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,  press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
